§ 44. Mr. Archerasked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he has received a letter from the chairman of the British section of Amnesty International relating to export control of electronic surveillance equipment to States with repressive Governments; and what reply he has sent.
§ Mr. ParkinsonI received a letter on 20 July. The reply to that letter explained that military and para-military police equipment is subject to export control, but that similar treatment for civil goods would in general have an unacceptable impact on United Kingdom export business.
