HC Deb 17 December 1979 vol 976 c58W
49. Mr. Bob Dunn

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what action is being taken against the taxation of British ships by foreign Governments whose ships are not taxed by the United Kingdom.

Mr. Peter Rees

The United Kingdom policy is to negotiate agreements with other countries for the relief of double taxation incorporating exemption in each country of shipping profits made by residents of the other. Many such agreements have been made.
