§ Mr. Geoffrey FinsbergThere are today two outstanding housing compulsory purchase orders in the hon. Member's constituency. In one case the statutory period for lodging objections has not yet expired. In the other the inspector's report is awaited following a local inquiry held on 20 November.
§ Mr. Steenasked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many compulsory purchase orders have been confirmed by him this year; how many applied to inner city areas; how many properties as 691W a result have been destroyed; and how many of these were in the inner city areas.
§ Mr. Heseltine1,062 compulsory purchase orders have been confirmed up to 7 December (963 under housing powers, 85 under planning powers, 14 under new towns powers). A substantial proportion of these orders relate to properties which are to be retained. Figures are not available for the number of properties that have been or will be demolished in consequence of these orders, or of the numbers of orders or properties that could be said to be in inner city areas.
