§ Mr. Humphrey AtkinsIt would not be in the interests of security to go into details on any operational measures which have been introduced or are under con-612W sideration. The hon. Member will know, however, that a security co-ordinator has been appointed to assist me in improving the co-ordination and effectiveness of the fight against terrorism and that the establishment of the RUC has been increased from 6,500 to 7,500. Important progress has also been made in security co-operation with the Republic of Ireland. I am satisfied that these and other measures are making a real contribution to improvements in security.
