§ Mr. Austin Mitchellasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will circulate a table in the Official Report showing the estimated value of owner-occupied housing in each of the years 440W 1952 to 1978 in comparison with the total stock of assets, the value of ordinary shares held by individuals, and the capital invested in manufacturing industry.
§ Mr. BiffenThere are no official statistics of the value of owner-occupied housing: any estimate would have to be based on assumptions and could be misleading. There are also difficulties in making the comparisons requested. I shall, however write to the hon. Member giving such help as I can.
