Mr. Robert Hughes

asked the Secretary of State for Trade if he will publish in the Official Report, by volume and value, the quantity of imported manufactured clothing reaching the United Kingdom via the method known as outward processing.

Mr. Parkinson

[pursuant to his reply,4 December 1979, c. 174]: I am advised that in the period January-June 1979 the volume and value of textile clothing covered by chapters 60 and 61 of the Customs co-operation council nomenclature which entered the United Kingdom as compensating products under the outward processing relief regime was 109 tonnes and £1.083 million.
