§ Lord BARNBYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether under existing and proposed legislation the passage of oil through Mozambique to Rhodesia is or would become legal and whether the oil installations in Beira are still usable.
§ The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN and COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS (Lord Carrington)The legality of the passage of oil through Mozambique to Rhodesia is of course a matter for Mozambique law. But under the United Kingdom Export of Goods Control Order, which remains in force, the export of oil from the United Kingdom to Rhodesia is prohibited. I understand that the oil installations at Beira are in operation.
