HL Deb 06 December 1979 vol 403 c954WA
Lord BARNBY

asked Her Majesty's Government:

Whether under existing and proposed legislation the passage of oil through Mozambique to Rhodesia is or would become legal and whether the oil installations in Beira are still usable.

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN and COMMONWEALTH AFFAIRS (Lord Carrington)

The legality of the passage of oil through Mozambique to Rhodesia is of course a matter for Mozambique law. But under the United Kingdom Export of Goods Control Order, which remains in force, the export of oil from the United Kingdom to Rhodesia is prohibited. I understand that the oil installations at Beira are in operation.
