§ Mrs. Renée Shortasked the Secretary of State for Trade if he is satisfied with the present arrangements for preventing the illegal dumping of oil by ships at sea.
§ Mr. EyreThe standards that have been agreed internationally and that are reflected in our law relating to the discharge at sea of oil from ships are broadly satisfactory. The national and international arrangements for enforcing those standards are, however, far from fully effective, and I am concerned to bring about improvements where reasonable and practicable.
