HC Deb 05 December 1979 vol 975 c212W
Mr. Bright

asked the Secretary of State for Employment how many workers have been housed as a result of approaches made by the Manpower Services Commission's regional directors to local authorities via the Department of the Environment since December 1977.

Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

I have been asked to reply.

The arrangements referred to were set up in 1977 by the Manpower Services Commission and the Department of the Environment with the object of encouraging local authorites to find accommodation for essential skilled workers in particular cases of difficulty. They are still available in such circumstances but statistics of persons securing accommodation by this means have not been kept.
