§ Lord AVEBURYasked Her Majesty's Government:
Whether they will summarise the information contained in Synopsis of 683WA Medical Jurisprudence by Dr. H. N. Bakshi concerning determination of age by means of X-rays; whether they consider this to be a definitive text in this matter; what advice is given by Dr. Bakshi regarding the errors inherent in the process; and whether they are aware that the Canadian immigration authorities have abandoned the use of X-rays for age estimation as being inherently unreliable.
§ Lord CULLEN of ASHBOURNEI would ask the noble Lord to await the results of the review currently being undertaken into the arrangements for medical examination of immigrants, including the use of X-rays.
