asked the Secretary of State for Employment what are the numbers of employees in the computer manufacturing and the microelectronics industry in Scotland, England, Wales and Northern Ireland.

The manufacture of microelectronic components forms a part of the activities covered by each of the following industries:

Office machinery—Minimum List Heading 338 of the Standard Industrial Classification 1968.

Telegraph and telephone apparatus and equipment—MLH 363.

Radio and electronic components—MLH 364.

Broadcast receiving and sound reproducing equipment—MLH 365.

Electronic computers—MLH 366.

Radio, radar and electronic capital goods—M LH 367.

The numbers of employees working in this group of industries at June 1976, the latest year for which the information is available, are as follows:
