§ Mr. David MitchellSome employment in the industry is being protected by the temporary short time working compensation scheme. I am aware of the increased imports of United States carpets of man-made fibres and the Government are pressing for action in the EEC Council of Ministers to deal with the problems caused by United States oil and gas price controls aiding their synthetic fibres and textile exports.
