§ Mr. MayhewI am advised by the chairman of the Health and Safety Commission that this information is not available without making special counts from a large number of documents. Following reorganisation of the Factory Inspectorate in 1976, Dundee and Tayside have been inspected as part of the Scotland East area, and local figures of this kind are no longer kept. The Health and Safety Executive's computer project will make information about the number of workplaces and the number of visits paid by factory inspectors in each local authority available in due course. Details are not kept of the numbers of violations discovered by HM factory inspectorate.
