HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 cc862-3W
Mr. Michael Latham

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment whether he will provide financial assistance to objectors wishing to make representations at the inquiry into the National Coal Board's proposal to mine coal in the Vale of Belvoir.

Mr. Shore

I have considered carefully whether there is any special reason for departing from the long-established policy that the parties to a planning inquiry should be expected to bear their own costs. I am still considering in what circumstances it would be right to depart from this practice, but I have decided that there are no compelling grounds for making an exception in this case.
