HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 cc710-1W
Mr. Whitehead

asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science how many students receiving local education authority grants who do not qualify for the 1979–80 special child allowance have now to rely in that financial year on an increased parental contribution by virtue of the phasing out of tax allowances.

Mr. Oakes

The phasing out of child tax allowances has not resulted in any increase in the parental contribution assessed towards students' maintenance grants.
