HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 cc746-7W
Mr. Rost

asked the Secretary of State for Trade whether he will estimate, in the case of each quasi-autonomous nongovernmental organisation for which he is responsible, the total expenditure for each year to 1977–78 since its establishment.

Mr. Clinton Davis,

pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 29 March 1979; Vol. 965, c. 297], gave the following answer:

There is no official definition of a quasi-autonomous non-governmental organisation. The following relevant public bodies—other than nationalised industries—to which I make appointments publish their expenditure:

  • Advisory Committee for the National Film Development Fund.
  • Air Travel Reserve Fund Agency.
  • British Film Fund Agency.
  • British Tourist Authority.
  • 747
  • English Tourist Board.
  • National Film Finance Corporation.

The relevant figures in respect of simplification of international trade procedures board are as follows:

£
1970–71 36,000
1971–72 68,000
1972–73 74,000
1973–74 88,000
1974–75 119,400
1975–76 154,000
1976–77 207,600
1977–78 271,000

As regards the other public bodies to which I make appointments, the expenditure is either trivial or could not be obtained without disproportionate cost.
