Mr. Jim Callaghan
asked the Secretary of State for Education and Science what were the pupil-teacher ratios in primary and secondary schools in the Bury and Rochdale county districts for the most recent years for which figures are available.

In January 1977 and 1978, the latest dates for which information is available, the ratios of pupils per qualified teacher within maintained primary and secondary schools were:
