HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 cc828-9W
Mr. Cockcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Industry what contribution Her Majesty's Government's agreement with the Trades Union Congress is making towards the settlement of the industrial disruption caused by postal workers in the London area.

Mr. Kaufman

In accordance with paragraph 10 of the joint statement by the TUC and the Government published last February, I understand the Union of Post Office Workers is doing all it can to bring an end to the unofficial action.

Mr. Cockcroft

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he plans to meet the general secretary of the Union of Post Office Workers to discuss disruption to postal services within the London area.

Mr. Kaufman

No. I am satisfied that the Post Office and the UPW are doing everything they reasonably can to bring about as quickly as possible an end to this unofficial action.
