780Wment follows to ensure the quality of defence supplies from contractors.
§ Dr. GilbertThe policy on quality assurance set out in the 1975 White Paper continues in effect. The main contractor is responsible for quality. MOD assures itself, by direct examination at the works, that the main contractor has a quality control system adequate to the defence standards called up in our contracts. Main contractors whose systems pass this examination are registered on a list of assessed contractors, and the Department as far as practicable confines the award of defence contracts to firms on this list.
