HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 cc779-80W
Mr. Churchill

asked the Secretary of State for Defence if he will publish the report of the Armed Forces Pay Review Body before the Dissolution of Parliament; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Mulley

The Armed Forces Pay Review Body has not yet presented its report to the Prime Minister, and it will not be possible, therefore, to publish it before the Dissolution of Parliament.

ment follows to ensure the quality of defence supplies from contractors.

Dr. Gilbert

The policy on quality assurance set out in the 1975 White Paper continues in effect. The main contractor is responsible for quality. MOD assures itself, by direct examination at the works, that the main contractor has a quality control system adequate to the defence standards called up in our contracts. Main contractors whose systems pass this examination are registered on a list of assessed contractors, and the Department as far as practicable confines the award of defence contracts to firms on this list.
