HC Deb 04 April 1979 vol 965 c704W
31. Mr. Knox

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment how many houses have been completed in the public and private sectors in the most recent year for which figures are available; and how this compares with the average figure for the years 1971 to 1973.

Mr. Freeson

Between 1971 and 1974 new houses completed dropped from over 350,000 to fewer than 270,000. In the following three years the number increased to over 300,000; and in 1978 dropped to just under 280,000.
