Mr. Jim Callaghanasked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he is satisfied with the provision of social services in the North-West for handicapped children and their families.
§ Mr. MoyleAs with all services, there is much room for improvement, but local authorities in the North-West are making significant progress in this field. All authorities provide aids for handicapped children and adaptations which may be required to their homes. Several of them provide residential accommodation for children with multiple handicaps and a number of homes are also provided by voluntary organisations. Most local authorities have close links with the domicilary health services, and advances have been made in setting up joint care planning teams with voluntary participation.
