HL Deb 04 April 1979 vol 399 c1976WA
Lord O'HAGAN

asked Her Majesty's Government:

How far (a) the EEC and (b) the United Kingdom have been self-sufficient in each of the following agricultural products in each of the last six years; wheat, barley, potatoes, sugar, fresh vegetables, fresh fruit (excluding citrus), fresh milk, skimmed milk powder, cheese, butter, eggs, beef, pigmeat, poultrymeat, sheepmeat, and goatmeat.

Lord STRABOLGI

For the years 1973–1977 the information requested (except for liquid milk) is given in the 1976 and 1978 editions of EUROSTAT's yearbook of agricultural statistics published by the Office for Official Publications of the European Communities. The 1978 figures should be included in the next edition which will be available early in 1980.

Both the EEC as a whole and the United Kingdom are self-sufficient in supplies of liquid milk.
