HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 cc558-9W
5. Mr. Gwilym Roberts

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services what discussions are taking place between his Department and other members of the EEC to reduce the pensionable age for men; and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Orme

No such discussions are going on at present. The recent EEC Council directive on equal treatment for men and women in social security specifically permits differences in pension ages to continue.
