HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 c626W
39. Mr. John H. Osborn

asked the Secretary of State for Energy what evidence he has of shortage of oil for essential purposes, bearing in mind that oil for the heating in schools in the Sheffield area is likely to be the cause of further closures.

Dr. John Cunningham

In Sheffield, as elsewhere, the loss of Iranian supplies, together with severe weather, has caused very tight supply conditions in heating oils. However, the oil company concerned in the supply of heating oils to Sheffield schools assures me that it is making every effort to assure adequate supplies and that it believes that the position should improve from now on. I will keep in touch with the situation there.
