asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will list in the Official Report the recommendations for action by Government made in the last report of the mechanical handling sector working party together with details of the action taken by Government to implement those recommendations.

The mechanical handling equipment sector working party intends to publish individual reports for its four subsectors, conveyors, lifts, cranes and lifting and winding equipment. I am arranging for copies of these to be placed in the Library as they become available. Separate recommendations have been

made for each subsector because they each have different problems and opportunities. The recommendations addressed to Government are being considered, and a full response will be made to the sector working party as soon as possible.
