§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer what is the taxation treatment in each of the EEC countries of the grant to farmers to change from milk to beef production.
§ Mr. Robert Sheldon,pursuant to his reply [Official Report, 30 March 1979; Vol. 965, c. 376], gave the following answer:
I regret that in the time available it has not been possible to obtain this information. However, in Belgium, France, Republic of Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg and West Germany profits from farming may, in certain circumstances, be computed for tax purposes on a notional basis which may not take account of such a grant.
