HC Deb 03 April 1979 vol 965 c580W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Minister of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food what plans he has to enable farmers to be paid grants and subsidies during the current industrial dispute within the Civil Service.

Mr. John Silkin

So long as the computer operating staff continue to take industrial action it is, unfortunately, not possible to arrange for farmers generally to receive the grants and subsidies which are normally paid through my Department's computer. But we are taking steps to ensure that payment will be made as quickly as possible when the industrial action is ended.
