HC Deb 02 April 1979 vol 965 cc539-40W
Mr. Alexander Fletcher

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment who authorised the Property Service Agency to proceed with the installation of 158 closed circuit television sets in the old Royal High School building in Edin- burgh, at an estimated cost of £250,000; and what attempts have been made to negotiate terms for the cancellation of this contract.

Mr. Marks

I refer to the reply my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for Scotland gave to my hon. Friend the Member for Glasgow, Pollok (Mr. White) on 10 March 1978. There is no closed circuit television installed at the Royal High School or St. Andrew's House. However, the contract for electronics, estimated at £250,000 includes, inter alia, the provision of an annunciator system for which the contractor delivered 158 television screens some weeks ago. These remain in store and there would be no difficulty in disposing of them.
