§ Mr. Adam Butlerasked the Secretary of State for Transport when the latest survey work on the M40 extension from Oxford to Birmingham is likely to be completed; and when he expects to be able to make a statement as to what form this road will finally take and when work is likely to begin.
§ Mr. HoramThe survey should be completed and an announcement made on the status and possible standard of the new road towards the end of the year. Subject to the completion of statutory procedures and availability of funds at the time, construction is expected to start in 1982–84.
