HC Deb 02 April 1979 vol 965 cc541-2W
Mr. Mudd

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will itemise, together with the outcome, the exact steps taken or initiated by his Department following the meeting of 30 November 1978 between his right lion, friend, the Minister of State, and a local authority deputation led by the hon. Member for Falmouth and Camborne.

Mr. Denis Howell

On 19 December 1978 officials both of my Department and MAFF attended a meeting at Falmouth of all the interests concerned.

At this meeting it was agreed that Carrick district council should establish a working group of local interests and representatives of the fish processing vessels with the aim of drawing up a code of conduct for them.

I understand that the working group met on 1 February and a second meeting was scheduled for Friday afternoon 30 March. A draft of a code of conduct has been drawn up and technical advice on the sections relating to noise and smell pollution has been given by central Government officials.
