HC Deb 02 April 1979 vol 965 c480W
21. Mr. Greville Janner

asked the Secretary of State for Industry whether he will take steps to assist the traditional industries of the East Midlands.

Mr. Les Huckfield

A number of industries of importance to the East Midlands are eligible under schemes of selective assistance under section 8 of the Industry Act 1972. Altogether £47.1 million of assistance has been offered under this section to 332 projects in the region, representing investment of £239 million. Firms in the assisted areas within the region also benefit from the regional incentives available there.
