HC Deb 24 October 1978 vol 955 c829W
Mr. Lawson

asked the Secretary of State for Employment if he will list the independent review bodies or commissions on pay set up with Government approval in the period 31st July 1977 to 31st July 1978, their recommendations, and the final settlements as approved by his Department.

Mr. Harold Walker

The only such body set up in this period was the Edmund-Davies Committee, whose terms of reference were extended in December 1977 to cover police pay. My right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department announced in the House on 17th July that the pay levels set out in the Committee's report (Cmnd 7283) would be implemented in two equal instalments on 1st September 1978 and 1st September 1979.
