The latest data for industrial and manufacturing production available in the publications of the OECD for the other specified countries are still based on 1970=100. This information only permits comparisons over the period 1974 to 1978 second quarter and is given in the tables below, resealed to 1974=100.

Within the United Kingdom, index numbers of industrial and manufacturing output are now prepared on the basis 1975=100. These are shown in the table below, together with their values resealed to 1974=100.

The different base year used in the calculation of these estimates, compared with that used for the United Kingdom shown above, should be noted in making comparisons between the two sets of figures. Future issues of "Main Economic Indicators" will be on the basis of 1975=100.
