HC Deb 24 October 1978 vol 955 cc852-3W
Mr. Geoffrey Finsberg

asked the Secretary of State for the Environment on what date he set up the public inquiry into British Rail's proposals to rebuild Liverpool Street and Broad Street stations; on what date the inquiry closed; on what date he received the inspectors' report; and if he will now make a statement.

Mr. Guy Barnett

The public inquiry into these proposals opened on 16th November 1976 and finished on 1st February 1977. The inspector's report was received in October 1977. These are major and complex proposals, the full consideration of which is necessarily taking rather longer than usual. My right hon. Friend will make a statement when he announces the decision on the scheme, which he hopes to do soon.
