HC Deb 24 October 1978 vol 955 cc936-7W
Mr. Corbett

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services if he will list in the Official Report the range of certificates for which medical practitioners are enttiled to receive a fee; whether he will explain how the fees are fixed and by whom and how often they are reviewed; and if he will publish information on the level of fees charged for a selection of certificates issued.

Mr. Moyle

No central record is kept of the wide range of private certificates which general medical practitioners may issue to their patients. The British Medical Association gives doctors guidance from time to time on the reasonable level of fees for private certificates but doctors are not obliged to follow this advice.
