asked the Secretary of State for Scotland at what average age men and women, respectively, employed in his Department have retired in each of the last five years.

The average ages at which civil servants, both industrial and non-industrial, retired from the Scottish Office on or after reaching minimum retiring age or for other reasons apart from resignation or dismissal are shown in the table below. The table does not include members of the staff of the Scottish Prison Service.
