§ Mr. Kershawasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what contribution he will propose to support the joint effort now being made by several African States to form an intervention force designed to maintain peace in Africa and prevent interference from outside the African continent.
§ Mr. RowlandsNo request has been received by the British Government to support such efforts and we have no knowledge that an intervention force is being planned. It is our view that African security and peacekeeping are matters for African governments to decide without outside interference. We shall of course continue to help in every way we can to find peaceful solutions to African problems.
