asked the Secretary of State for the Environment if he will make a statement about the membership of the eight English regional economic planning councils.

Mr. Shore:

I have recently completed the 1978 review of the membership of the North, North-West, Yorkshire and Humberside, East Midlands, West Midlands, East Anglia, South-East and South-West economic planning councils. The following is a list of the current members of each council.

I am glad to take this opportunity to pay tribute to the excellent work done by those who give up their time to serve on these councils.
