asked the Prime Minister what security vetting is applied to Ministers on assuming office.

The Prime Minister:

The question of the security vetting of Ministers was fully considered by the Security Commission in 1973. Its conclusions, which are contained in paragraph 42 of Cmnd. 5367, were accepted by the then Government and the position remains the same.
