asked the Secretary of State for Industry at which British Shipbuilders' yards joint monitoring committees have been established; and what action is being taken to promote such committees at other yards.

Mr. Les Huckfield:

I understand joint monitoring committees to supplement existing joint consultation procedures with unions have been established in those companies building ships under the Polish contract concluded last year. The corporation advises me that it is discussing with the CSEU the possible extension of the arrangements to other yards.
