§ Mr. Wigleyasked the Secretary of State for Wales what is the permitted level of capital expenditure on schools for each of the local education authorities in Wales, excluding expenditure on energy conservation projects, for 1979–80, 198081 and 1981–82, respectively.
§ Mr. Barry Jones:LEAs in Wales are being informed of substantially increased allocations for primary and secondary school building starts on the following planning and provisional bases:
to attract new jobs to the Swansea area to offset the job loss arising from the proposed reduction in the work force at the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Centre.
§ Mr. John Morris:My Department, with the full support of the Welsh Development Agency and other bodies, will continue to apply the wide range of incentives which are available in its efforts to attract new employment of all kinds to the Swansea area and to encourage the expansion of existing activities. The Land Registry is planning a build-up of numbers in Swansea by over 250 posts, bringing its total to some 500 posts by the mid-1980s.
