asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will publish a table showing public expenditure, defined as in Command Paper No. 7049, as a percentage of (a) gross domestic product at factor cost, (b) gross domestic product at market prices, and (c) gross national product, from the earliest available year to 1977.

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will give the successive definitions of public expenditure and general Government expenditure that have been used since 1973.

On public expenditure, I refer the hon. Member to the answer I gave to the hon. Member for St. Marylebone (Mr. Baker) on 30th January this year.-[Vol. 943, c. 29–30.] The successive definitions of general Government expenditure are published by the Central Statistical Office each year in the notes to the"National income and Expenditure ". Before 1976 general government was known in this publication as combined public authorities.
