§ Mr. Geoffrey Finsbergasked the Secretary of State for Employment on what date he asked the National Union of Mineworkers for further information on the actual and proposed wage and salary increases which it was alleged to be making; if he has yet received the information; and if he will make a statement.
§ Mr. Harold Walker:A letter was sent to the union on 1st September 1978 and was acknowledged by it on 11th September 1978. I have not yet received full details but my understanding is that the settlement is not due to take effect until 1st March 1979.
