HC Deb 27 November 1978 vol 959 c6W
Mr. Moonman

asked the Minister for the Civil Service if he will now make a statement on the completed investigation into the risks to Her Majesty's Government's information services due to the likely disruption caused by breakdown in the computer system.

Mr. Charles R. Morris:

The investigation was primarily concerned with the provision of standby facilities against the breakdown of central Government administrative computer system. Although, as the report noted, most Departments already have certain standby facilities, further protective measures were recommended and Departments, in collaboration with the Central Computer Agency, are evaluating the resource requirements so that they may be implemented wherever practicable.
