HC Deb 27 November 1978 vol 959 c56W
Mr. Tilley

asked the Secretary of State for Social Services whether he will take urgent action in the form of immediate grant aid to avert the threatened closure of Gingerbread, the association for one-parent families, in the light of its past help for such families which has contributed to the recent improvements in Government policy in this area.

Mr. Moyle:

The Government are well aware of the value of Gingerbread's work for one-parent families and are already making grants to Gingerbread totalling £30,500 in the current financial year. My Department has recently decided to increase its contribution to this total from £12,000 to £23,000. I understand that my right hon. Friend the Secretary of State for the Home Department intends to review the voluntary services unit's grant to Gingerbread in the light of this decision and of representations made by the association.
