§ Mr. Merlyn ReesAs the Gracious Speech made clear, it remains the Government's intention to propose legislation to replace section 2 of the Official Secrets Act 1911 with a measure better suited to present-day conditions. The Government wish first to give full consideration to any comments on the legislative proposals set out in the White Paper (Cmnd. 7285) published in July.
