The introduction of a container vessel in the United Baltic Corporation service between Leningrad and Tilbury in July 1977 contributed towards the upturn in favour of the United Kingdom during 1977. We expect this trend to continue throughout 1978. Statistical returns for the first half-year show United Kingdom flag share at 15.1 per cent. and Soviet flag share at 81.7 per cent.
