HC Deb 22 November 1978 vol 958 c656W
Mr. Geraint Howells

asked the Secretary of State for Wales if he has any plans to give financial assistance for the development of Women's Aid in Wales: and if he will make a statement.

Mr. Barry Jones

Yes. £3,500 was made available to enable Welsh Women's Aid to begin its work in the last few months of 1977–78. Grant of up to £8,000 will be paid during the present financial year, and some refuges used by local women's aid groups are supported under the urban programme. The organisation's application for support during 1979–80 was received recently and is under consideration.
