§ Mr. Rookerasked the Secretary of State for Energy what was the cost of the research which forms the basis of the latest report by Dr. Chamberlain of the Atomic Energy Authority, Harwell, entitled "Investigation into Lead from Motor Vehicles", ref. AERE R 9198; what percentage of this cost was funded by central Government; what other organisations sponsored this research; and if he will publish the report.
§ Dr. John CunninghamThe research was sponsored through the Institute of Petroleum. The total cost was £119,000 of which about 67 per cent. was contributed by central Government; the remainder was contributed by private industry. The report is still in draft form, but it will be published as an AERE Harwell report when it has been finalised.
