Osbornasked the Secretary of State for Foreign and Commonwealth Affairs what discussions have been held with the president in Council about making arrangements for Members of EEC national Parliaments to attend joint meetings with Members of the European Parliament, after direct elections, in specialist fields including for instance Members of the Select Committee of Overseas Development at ACP/EEC joint meetings and assemblies in connection with the Lome agreement.
§ Mr. TomlinsonNone. Relations between the European Assembly and the Parliaments of countries in association with the Community will continue to be a matter for the European Assembly rather than for the Council. It will be for the former, after direct elections, to decide whether to invite members of the national Parliaments of member States to attend.
